Carbon Leaf is an award-winning band out of Richmond, Va that formed in the 90’s but didn’t get a big break until 2002 when they won the first-ever ‘American Music Awards’. They won Coca Cola’s New Music Award and performed at the show, becoming the first unsigned band to perform at the awards show!
Carbon Leaf’s sound has changed over the years; starting out in the Celtic folk tradition, they have evolved into an indie status of acoustic pop rock and exciting Live shows! Their unique brand of rootsy, Celtic-influenced rock is infectious. One of their most acclaimed albums debuted in 2004, ‘Indian Summer’ was touted as their “strongest example yet of their polite, astutue and engaging sound.” It contained many hits ( ie, “Life Less Ordinary” & “What About Everything?”) We are very honored to be able to also feature one of their lovely songs from that album, “Let Your Troubles Roll By” on our benefit compilation.
Carbon Leaf is much more than just a Southern Celtic band, They synthesized their influences and inspirations, added a lot of personal creativity, and produced a sound that’s all their own!
Songwriter Barry Privett is exceptionally talented and blessed with the great skill to weave his haunting lyrics into rhymic, melodic and downwrite danceable delight! His evocative lyrics would be a pleasure, even if they didn’t provide this wonderful joyful music to accompany them!
