Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He was honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2004, Jackson was given an honorary Doctorate of Music by Occidental College in Los Angeles, for “a remarkable musical career that has successfully combined an intensely personal artistry with a broader vision of social justice.”
Jackson Browne’s wonderful music has defined a whole generation – he has written the Soundtrack of our lives! With dozens of acclaimed ‘Hits’ over forty years of performing, he remains one of the best song writers ever! And he’s still the best! In 2011, Mr. Browne won ‘Best Live Performance’ CD at the pretigous ‘Annual Independent Music Awards’ for his “Love is Strange” album, and we are very proud to feature one of his best songs off that award-winning CD, “I’m Alive!”
Beyond his music, Browne is known for his staunch advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education. After the ‘Three Mile Island’ nuclear accident in 1979, Browne and co-founders Bonnie Riatt and Stephen Stills formed ‘Musicians United for Safe Energy’ (MUSE). He was also arrested protesting the Diablo Canyone Nuclear Power Plant. And his wonderful song “Lives in the Balance” stuck out forcefully at Reagan and the bloody US policies of Terror in Central America.
And Mr. Browne is still speaking out! He performed in December 2011 at the Occupy Wall Street presence at Zuccotti Park in New York. He continues to tour the world and campaigns against the unnecessary use of water in plastic bottles, in addition, he is part of the movement “Plastic Free Backstage”.
